Lately I've had some free time since I have been out of school for the summer. I decided to create something I knew would not take a long time to finish. I am making these arm cuff bracelets and selling them on my etsy site. I have a pretty awesome collection of mop buttons and vintage as well as contemporary fabrics to choose from. I love them and they are fun to wear. I hope I sell some soon. I can't make them all for me and my girls and I am itching to make some more!!

What a relief it was to finally finish the baby quilt. I carried the top with me to Texas on our Thanksgiving break. I also carried everything needed to complete the quilt. I finished it 20 minutes before it was time to go to the baby shower!! I LOVE the colors and how it is so modern looking...not your typical baby quilt!

The little red schoolhouse quilt has always been one of my favorites. I found this art print and knew I had to try to make it. The quilt pattern was found online. It looks just like the print. The original pattern is a lot larger. I really like this for my next doll quilt swap. It will be a challenge! I hope to finish 9 paper-pieced houses in all.

Our church celebrated the 4th of July with a fellowship meal. We had lots of picnic foods, a cake and pie contest, and a parade. The church children festively decorated their bikes, golf carts, motor bikes, and 4 wheelers then they paraded around our church. It was a wonderful sight, especially seeing the little ones. They could really get around in their motor bikes. God Bless America!!

What I Make...Baby Quilts

Ok, here is a preview of Lydia Roses' baby quilt. It will look like the colorful quilt I made earlier except it will have pink and gray. I didn't like how it was coming out at first but when I added the gray blocks it looked better. I plan to quilt it the same way I quilted the colorful quilt except use pink thread. I am having a hard time deciding what to use for the trim. I will post more pictures later. I still need to work on Jennys' and Gracies' baby quilts and I need to get them finished before school starts. *The pink ipod is not included...it is a "must have" when working and at my age I now need the reading glasses too!

Samantha will be coming home today around 4:00. She is at Centri-kid camp with the church youth in Shocco Springs, Alabama. She has made about 3 brief calls just to let us know she is doing fine. She loves it. She said it is very pretty and that she was having lots of fun. I was concerned when she called on Wednesday and told me she ran out of money. I gave her $50 to spend and she was suppose to save some money to eat on the way home. She told me that she bought some stuff and that the gift shop there was a lot better than the one at last years camp. This is her second and last camp for the summer. The last camp she went to was camp Garaway for girls and she loved it so much she didn't want to come home!

I went to one of my favorite stores today and saw this flower ring and this daisy ring I thought they were so different and unique that I ordered both. Shhh... don't tell my husband! They are part of a collection by Trollbeads.

DQS4...these are the fabrics I plan to use for my 1st ever DQS (doll quilt swap). I am so excited...I believe I was number 98 out of 100. I happened to be looking at the DQS site when I noticed the posting was a recent posting and it mentioned that they had 4 spots left. I quickly emailed and hoped that I would be chosen...and I was!!

I can't share much about my partner without giving it away. I just hope she likes it. The fabrics I chose are Kona cottons. I love the colors. One day while I was at a Hallmark store I spotted this book titled "Wit & Wisdom of Fathers." I loved the colors on the cover and I grabbed my cell phone and took a picture. I had hoped to find it on online to post it here but I wasn't able to google it.

The pattern for my doll quilt was inspired by a really lovely "Art" quilt I saw on etsy. The original quilt had some printed fabrics as well but I chose to use only solids. I plan to use a polka-dot trim. I hope this posting was enough to peek your curiosity!!!

What I do...VBS

This week we had VBS at our church. I had the 4 yo class. We had a total of 9 kids. They were very smart and some of them already knew the bible story before I talked about it. They listened to bible stories, played outside, made some really cool crafts, and sang some fun songs (I can't get them out of my head). I really enjoyed them and I hope to do it again next year.

The Friday night program was awesome! All the children performed their songs for the parents. It was the perfect ending to a wonderful week. All week long the children collected money for a missionary that will be traveling to Moldova. They collected $2,000. The goal was $1,000. This was enough to send 20 kids to camp in Moldova. They were told the class that brought the most $ would get to "pie" their teacher. Well, because they brought more than enough all the teachers and helpers were pied in the face. I got my share...luckily my class of 4 yo was the first class to do it and they were very kind.

I LOVE this baby quilt. It turned out so colorful. I made it by following the technique used in the Scrappy Quilt Challenge. I made my own blocks. They are 5" squares with a 2" center. It was pretty easy and I plan to make more like this soon.
